I heard from a friend of mine recently that needs help with a working wardrobe.  She owns a children's store called the Kangaroo Pouch that is the bomb. She wants outfits that transition from night to day and pieces she can get things done in, she is a mover and shaker, much like Melanie Griffith in "Working Girl"without the Staten Island accent, bad make-up and ..well she is nothing like her besides the fact that she works.  Anyway, I did a little thinking and think the perfect look for her is if J.Crew met Kate Spade at a martini bar and got loaded.  We want her to look classy, but not like the kind that is plotting your presidency seat of the Junior League, but more like the friend who sneaks cigarettes with you at a Tupperware party.  I am first suggesting go to J.Crew and buy those sassy trouser front chinos that come in a million colors, have fun with the colors. One fun color, one black, and one camel.  Buy three types of sweaters a Henley, a cashmere hoodie, and a cable knit.  These can be found at RL too.  Buy two shifts one in a color and one in black(RL, J.Crew, and Banana).  Buy two pencil skirts one in a fun color like turquoise or kelly green and one in black.  Always have a crisp white button-down.  Two great pairs of jeans this season are Georgia flares by 7 for Mankind and The Drama by Mother denim both can be found at Oliver Boutique in Wrightsville Beach.  A pair of cords are a must from J. Brand (Beanie and Cecil) The brand PURE makes the best cashmere wraps- get one.  It is the perfect bit of warmth while flying and almost every other situation.  You can also wrap it around your baby, so basically it doubles as a baby blanket.  Buy a decorative silk scarf, you can either tie around your neck, your handbag, or your wrist to spice things up.  Butter makes the best kitten heel and flat...and they are on sale at Palm Shoes now in Pawleys Island.  Charleston born and bred shoe designer Blake Vaigneur hasa cool shoe line called Rowan. They are sold at Copper Penny Shooz located in the Market Common.  These things will mix and match so well together you will look as sharp as Jackie, cool as Grace, and sexy as Brigitte.
"Let the river run, let all the dreamer's wake the nation, come, the new Jerusalem."-Carly Simon (theme song Working Girl).
Other great stores to find the looks from above-Ann Taylor Loft, Talbots, Express, DKNY.
